Why are we subsidising the towkays?

Why are we subsidising the towkays?

Wages below market rate = people subsidising towkays's profits

Don't you just hate it when people treat you like an idiot? It makes my blood boil.
I was just watching television on Saturday night and I heard the PM telling the country that minimum wage causes inflation. He said if the country agrees to minimum wage, price of goods would go up and it would all be our fault.

Well we don't have minimum wage and prices are going up, everything from roti canai to full cream milk now costs more than ever. Things like baby formula has gone up as much as RM5 per tin, the price of fish has gone up by at least 10 per cent and I cannot seem to find my usual brand of rice and that probably means the price is about to go up too.

We have no minimum wage yet things still cost more, so whose fault is it that prices are going up? Oh suddenly now its the global economy's fault? I thought just now the Government said prices would only go up if we have minimum wage?

Inflation is nobody's fault, it is the result of an economy that is running at full tilt, if you see excessive inflation then there is something wrong in the flow of money, it is an indication that someone somewhere is making too much money.

I am not a complete idiot when it comes to economics so I agree that when wages go up, it will put some pressure on the price of goods but if the price of goods are going up at a rate faster than wages, why is there no upward pressure on wages?
The Government argues that it can no longer afford to subsidise some things because subsidies are expensive.

Well then why are they asking the people to subsidise wages? When wages are below market price, someone is subsidising it. Who do you think is subsidising wages if not us the workers? When we work for less than market rate we are giving the towkays our time for less than its worth. We are subsidising the profits of these corporations.
I say we are subsidising because they are certainly selling their products at market prices but we are expected to sell our effort for less.

If the Government feels that subsidies is not the way forward, then they should lift it but it also means that they have to stop asking us, the people who vote them into power, to continue to subsidise the towkays.
Let wages rise according to market rate and by market rate I mean global market rate. after all we live in a global world and our exporters rake global profits so why should we suffer third world wages.
Minimum wage is exactly just that, minimum wage there is really no argument against it, unless you believe that people should not get fair remuneration.
Our problem now is that the cost of living is rising faster than wages and no one seems to care about it.

The Government cares that highway operators must get minimum profit guaranteee, they want to make sure that privatised sewer operators are not losing money, they do their best to make sure that YTL doesn't lose sleep over ERL operating costs, God forbid if Air Asia has to pay too much for landing rights and ground handling fee so they spent the pople's money to built a low cost terminal.
Well I have six small children and I am having trouble making ends meet and I want to know if the Government is concerned about me.

Before anybody say anything I want to say that I think trickle-down economics is bunkum and Reaganomics is nothing but economic fantasy.

I want the Government to start caring less about big business and start caring more about the little people. -Shamsul Yunus (www.marahku.blogspot.com)
